Member Leaves Dru Hill to Pursue Gospel Career
New York, NY - Woody, a member of the multi-platinum super group Dru hill has decided to leave the group to pursue a career exclusively in gospel and inspirational music. Woddy, whose real name is James Green, says his departure from the group is a result of his relationship with God. "My decision to leave Dru Hill was laid upon my heart by the Lord. I value my experiences as a member of Dru Hill. Sisqo, Nokio and Jazz will always be my brothers".
The remaining member sof Dru Hill (the provocative blond haired Sisqo, the mysterious Nokio and "Big Daddy" Jazz) full support Woody's decision and express well wishes for him. "We honor and respect Woody's decision to sing for the Lord... Woody will always be a special part of Dru Hill."
Dru Hill's sophomore album Enter the Dru is certified double-platinum. Since the release of their self-titled debut album in 1996, the group has spawned eight #1 singles including "Tell Me," "In My Bed," "Never Make A Promise" and "How Deep Is Your Love." Despite Woody's departure, the international super group will embark on a major U.S. tour beginning April 1999. They will hit major cities including New York, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., Chcago, Atlanta, Houston and their hometown of Baltimore.
Woody, along with Sisqo, Nokio and Jazz, has co-written and co-produced several songs on Dru Hill's self-titled album and on Enter the Dru. Woody, whose vocal style has been compared to Stevie Wonder, sings leave vocals on "April Showers" (from Dru Hill's self-titled debut) and wrote, produced and sings lead on "Angel," an infectious love ballad on Enter the Dru. |
